LIST OF MATERIALS
Below is a list of suggested
materials for the Paint Trek.
If you need assistance in finding these materials please contact our
office or Craig Honeycutt at 541-488-0774.
1. Paint box with 12 - 24 colors.
Recommend the yaka St. Petersburg set of 24 colors - $24 - $34 through Dick Blick
2. Brushes.
2 rounds - # 2, # 6
2 flats - 1/4", 3/4"
3. Paper.
Paper should be 100% cotton rag only, regardless of experience, any brand will serve well and each has a unique contribution to painting.
Recommend arches or waterford 100% rag 140-lb. cold press. Available in full sheets and watercolor blocks. For travel, full sheets can be cut down to : 22" x 30", 15" x 22", 11" x 15", 71/2" x 11", 51/2" x 71/2".
I would like to suggest beginners start with 51/2" x 71/2" and 71/2" x 11".
For convenience water color blocks are the best. They are available in 140 lb. 100% rag in sizes: 7" x 10", 9" x 12", 10" x 14", 12" x 16".
For cut paper a painting board is necessary. One can be cut from a piece of melamine. It should be slightly large than the paper you are using, a 15" x 20" will handle beginners sizes quite nicely.
